T.U.M.O.R.
Tanya's Unwanted Mass Orbiting Retina:

Tanya Palmer has been a part of the Seattle Music Community for decades; most recently for the past 7 years as a Buyer at Easy Street Records and for 3 years as an ASR for RED Distribution. Recently she was diagnosed with a tumor sitting between her brain and right eye. This has been degenerating her sight, which may or may not return. Her surgery was Wed Aug 25th and fortunately the tumor was benign and most of it was removed. Her recovery is going well, but the impending bills are going to be coming for a long time. Although she has health insurance, there are still large, mounting costs of deductibles, co-pays, and prescriptions in conjunction with missed work.

This benefit is to help with her medical bills and she's invited her friends to play. The bands are very different-(Partman Parthorse, Legion Within, Great Falls, The Quiet Ones)- from each other so please come by, help out a friend and enjoy the musical diversity!

Join Partman Parthorse, Legion Within, Great Falls and the The Quiet Ones in this benefit for a great cause!

Classic Music Moments

One Of My Obsessions.....

.....happens to be fashion.

I think one of the most perplexing issues I've had to deal with is --what to wear when you want to look and feel like your Gothy self, but still retain some dignity?

A few things came to mind:

Well, why don't I just show you?

Darkest Salutations!

This is my Elder Goth Blog, and I'm putting it together because , well-- there's an awful lot of us out there.

A little about my background; I'm a 40-something year old Goth that started out as a Hardcore Punk in NYC in 1981. I got into Siouxie and Bauhaus around that time-- though my roots as a young teenager ran from Kiss to The Cars to Lene Lovich to David Bowie. I became a huge fan of Gary Numan and the Sex Pistols, the Damned, Talking Heads, Devo, etc, etc. In New York, I discovered the Punk scene and threw myself in.

And then there was Batcave, and Blitz/New Romantic.

By the 90's I was playing bass in a Gothic band, and have continued playing Gothic/Darkwave in the Seattle scene since.

So, there are a lot of things I'd like to do with this blog-- examine some of the music that shaped the scene; look at how the Seattle Gothic Scene contributed to the Gothic subculture as a whole; interview Elder Goths and get their take on the subject-- plus I'd like to look at fashion, art, etc, ... in short, anything that has to do with the subject. As I am also a Goth of Color-- this is something else I'd like to touch on.

So-- definitions: what is an Elder Goth?

Currently, the consensus seems to be that if you are over 30, you are an Elder Goth.

Does that make me a Geriatric Goth?
